Ontario Ministry of Education and Other Ministries

The Ministry of Education administers the system of publicly funded elementary and secondary school education in Ontario, in accordance with the directions set by the provincial government. 91̽»¨ School Board reports to the Ministry of Education and, as a Catholic institution, responds to the teachings of the Catholic Church as outlined in Canon Law.

There are a number of other Ministries that provide support to students in the education sector including but not limited to those listed under Ministry Links.

Other Links

Ontario's Human Rights Code was enacted in 1962. The Code protects people in Ontario against discrimination. The Ontario Human Rights Commission was established in 1961 to administer the Code. The Commission is an arm's length agency of government accountable to the people of Ontario through the legislature. Further details can be found the Ontario Human Rights Commission website.

Outside Agencies

Dufferin-Peel staff support students with diverse learning needs including special education needs and/or their families who may benefit from the support of an outside agency. Agencies may assist families in navigating social services and/or providing a wide variety of services in the home and/or aligned to school supports. These Outside Agencies may prove helpful.
