Online Course
The Additional Qualification Course: First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples - Understanding Traditional Teachings, Histories, Current Issues and Cultures, Specialist employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical foundations, program planning, development and implementation, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning across the divisions. This course explores leadership through emancipatory practices and critically analyzes ongoing systemic barriers in order to create educational spaces rooted in safety and wellbeing.

PART 2 IS REQUIRED AS PREREQUISITE

Time:  This AQ course will run from April 8 - June 7, 2025 
Tuesdays and Thursdays online using ZOOM from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
April 8, 10, 22, 24, 29, *no classes April 15, 17

June 3, 5

Saturdays in person from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

REGISTRATION:
Applicants are asked to complete the Application Form 
All applicants will need to submit a copy of their College of Teachers qualifications to jodie.williams@dpcdsb.org

PAYMENT:
Course Fee: $650 for anyone outside of Dufferin-Peel District School Board

Dufferin-Peel employees:
*Any secondary DP teacher teaching an "N-coded course" (Indigenous Studies) will have their course fees waived
*All other DP employees will have a reduced cost of $450

Dufferin-Peel employees can choose to have this deducted from their payroll and can indicate this option on the registration form.

Payment MUST be received by April 2, 2025.

A refund will be issued ONLY upon written request received by April 16, 2025. There will be no refund after this date.

Required Course Readings:
The Independent Professional Learning component requires course candidates to read a series of online journals and articles as well as a core text. Course candidates are required to provide their own copy of the following book: Decolonizing Education: Nourishing the Learning Spirit by Marie Battiste
